Depot 320 opts for 10 electric JLG scissor lifts: comfort and safety on site.

Depot 320, the central warehouse for sister companies MBG and Van Laere, recently invested in 10 electric scissor lifts of the JLG ES1932 type. These machines will be deployed on various sites in Flanders and Brussels, where the companies are active in major projects such as apartment buildings, office buildings, industrial sites and underground and above-ground parking facilities.

We spoke with Danny Marien (Head of Equipment Services) and Jorden Peeters (Prevention Advisor) from Depot 320 about their choice and experiences.

“At one of our sites, we noticed that many scissor lifts were being rented, often the same models,” says Danny. “That’s when we decided to invest ourselves. Everything we rent externally is lost money. By purchasing our own equipment, we save costs and gain more flexibility.”

Depot 320 tested several brands with their workers. “We had a demo machine delivered by each supplier. Based on their feedback, we chose JLG. The ease of use and comfort were decisive,” adds Jorden Peeters.

“The tilt function in particular was very well received. With JLG, the machine automatically calculates how high you can still work safely when it’s not completely level. With many other brands, the lift immediately stops. That makes a big difference in efficiency.”

In addition, the team praised the driving experience: “The driving is very proportional and smooth.” Another advantage: even when the battery is almost empty, you can still drive a few meters to load the machine onto a truck. With other brands, the machine stops completely at a certain percentage,” explains representative Tars Peeters.

The choice for electric machines was deliberate. “Our companies strongly focus on sustainability. Every purchase is evaluated based on environmental and economic criteria. That’s why electric was the logical choice,” says Danny.

“The collaboration with TVH Equipment went very smoothly. Our purchasing department worked together with Tars Peeters, our representative at TVH Equipment. He was present during the demo and ensured smooth follow-up. The maintenance contract was arranged immediately as well. We are satisfied.”
